Privacy Policy — Maine Basketball Rankings

This policy covers the Maine Basketball Rankings iPhone app.

The short version

The app has no accounts and asks for no personal information. It stores an
anonymous identifier for your installation so that score notifications can reach
your phone. That's the whole of it.

What the app stores

An installation identifier. When you first open the app it generates a
random identifier for that installation and keeps it on your device. It isn't
derived from your phone, your Apple ID, or anything about you, and it can't be
used to identify you.

A notification token, if you enable notifications. Apple issues this so we
can deliver a notification to your device. It goes to Apple's servers, not ours,
when the notification is sent.

Which teams you follow. Stored against the installation identifier so we
know which finals to notify you about.

An access code redemption, if you enter one. We record that your
installation redeemed a code and the date access runs until. We don't record who
you are, because we don't know.

What the app does not do

• No accounts, no sign-up, no email address, no password.
• No location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone access.
• No advertising, no advertising identifiers, no third-party ad networks.
• No tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
• No analytics or usage measurement in the app.
• Nothing is sold in the app.

Where it's stored

On Supabase, our database provider, on servers in the United States. Push
notifications go through Apple's Push Notification service, which is subject to
Apple's own privacy policy.

Who we share it with

Nobody. We don't sell, rent or share app data. The only third parties involved
are Supabase, which stores it on our behalf, and Apple, which delivers the
notifications.

How long we keep it

Follows and the installation identifier are kept while the app is installed.
Deleting the app orphans the record; write to us and we'll delete it outright.

Children

The app covers high school sports and is suitable for all ages. We don't
knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, because we don't
collect personal information at all.

Your choices

Notifications can be turned off in the app on the Alerts tab, or switched
off entirely in iOS Settings.

Deleting your data: since we hold no personal information, there's nothing
identifying to delete. If you want the record for your installation removed,
email the address below and we'll remove it.

The website

This policy covers the app. The Maine Basketball Rankings website has its own
arrangements, including a newsletter and subscriptions handled by Ghost, and
website analytics. None of that applies to the app.
