The Vote Dexter Game
So much magenta

If you're reading this, you already know the Falmouth football story from last year, how Spencer Emerson turned the program around and went undefeated in the process. You can listen to him on the podcast after they started 3-0. This year has been rocky. They started the season 3-3 in a tougher B South and have lost several starters for the year to injury. But the Model hasn't wavered in its belief that the Navs are one of the top teams in the state.
So I thought a matchup with Fryeburg of defending champions would be a perfect opportunity to see for myself.
After a reassurance that there wouldn't be a repeat of last week's sideline incident, I settled in. Before long, Ben Robbins kicked off the scoring with a 16 yard reverse and then Falmouth's defense took over. Defensive Coordinator Dylan Rottkov's squad was everywhere with a scheme that WHOU's Jarod Richmond called "nasty" after the game. They hassled Fryeburg quarterback Benny Árnason all night, forcing him to rush his throws. In all, they held Fryeburg to 46 net yards (according to Richmond), Robbins hauled in a deep TD throw from Tres Walker, and Falmouth cruised to a win.
Trust the Model.
Saturday's game was a stark contrast in resources (but not in enthusiasm) as I drove up to Dexter for their T-Mobile home game against Houlton.
As promised, there was a bounce house, but there were also bubble machines and cornhole and some big connect 4 game and a lot of magenta. More magenta than I've ever seen in one place.
The Dexter community really showed up for this event, as they have for every part of this contest. They're the smallest school from the smallest state in the contest. The fact that they're in third place is amazing.
While I was walking around, I spoke to one of the T-Mobile reps about the overall contest. Each of the schools had a couple of different dates to chose from for their branded game (and if they didn't have a home game, they had large pep rally) and there's an effort made to not have the game on the school's homecoming, which I found interesting.
Dexter's players, as you might imagine, were hyped. It's probably the equivalent of giving your kid all the sugar and sending them outside. It's always a question mark as to how that'll turn out.
Dexter's Kody Kimball took their first play from scrimmage to the house, which was a good start. Then on their second possession, he did it again. Kimball had 3 rushing TDs and threw for 2 more. Bryce Cooper ran for a TD, caught a TD, and threw a TD pass and Dexter rolled, 50-8.
If you ask me, T-Mobile should add a bonus for the voting for each touchdown you score. At minimum, you should get a bonus for winning the game.
After the game, I spoke to Dexter coach Andrew Levensalor.

Marc Calnan from Eastern Maine Sports convinced me to finally get on Tik Tok, because that's where the kids are.

Game of the Day
Let's go to Field Hockey, where Yarmouth and Freeport have turned B South into a 2 team race.

They're both top 10 in scoring offense and scoring defense and 4th (Freeport) and 6th (Yarmouth) in differential.
This sure looks like a Regional Final preview. The Model has this as essentially a pick 'em. Yarmouth won the first meeting in Freeport, 2-1.
Yarmouth by 0.1
The Model's picks for all of today's games are after the jump.
