Nolan Ames & Friends

The Windjammers make a statement win.

Nolan Ames & Friends

There was a late season atmosphere in Waldoboro for the Game of the Day and why wouldn't it be? Two rivals with expectations of deep playoff runs who are both undefeated and will only play once this year.

Nolan Ames opened the game by knocking down a three on the first play, which was misleading, because this was a largely defensive battle. Medomak threw multiple looks at Ames in the hopes of slowing him down.

For the most part, Ames didn't force things. He took what little the defense gave him and did a great job of finding the teammates open because of his gravity. 5 different Windjammers hit a 3 in the game. Medomak hit only 2.

Camden's defense focused on taking away Medomak's shooters and drew two offensive fouls on Panthers' lynchpin Mason Nguyen in the first half to send him to the bench. For a while, Medomak was able to survive the minutes with Nguyen on the bench, even tying the game, but then Camden erupted for a 10-0 run late in the half, thanks to some hot shooting from deep.

Medomak would threaten in the second half, but every time they made some progress, Camden would hit a three or make a stop and the Winjammers pulled away late for a 65-50 win. Kiefer Healey led Camden with 20. Ames added 18 & 11. Kollin Donlin scored 19 for the Panthers.

Camden is now 5-0 with the 15th best point differential against the hardest Strength of Schedule in the state. Pretty, pretty, pretty good!

The Worldwide Leader was there.

I love this, but can I make a note? Does it always have to be ESPN? Could it be NBC Sports Boston? Just a thought.

So in yesterday's newsletter, I included Cooper's first 40-point game and how he was the youngest ever to score 40 in the NBA.

I thought this graphic was an interesting addition.

May be an image of basketball and text that says 'Fewest GP before first 40- 40-point game Among many prolific 40- -point scorers and Cooper Flagg, not an exhaustive, complete list Player Wilt Chamberlain GP Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 1 7 Michael Jordan Oscar Robertson 9 14 Cooper Flagg Elgin Baylor 26 Larry Bird 44 57 Allen /verson & LeBron James 69 Stephen Curry & Kevin Durant Kobe Bryant 80 248'

First of all, Wilt doing it in his first game is insane. Second, this isn't everyone. They're selecting prolific scorers here. But faster than Elgin, Bird, LeBron, Durant, and Curry, regardless of age is a wild stat.

The Knicks won a cute little trophy. Good for them! How adorable.

We're heading to MDI for a Big East battle. The Trojans are undefeated, including a convincing win over Bangor. They're 2nd in Class B in scoring and 3rd in differential.

They'll host a Hermon team that's middle of the pack in scoring, but first in Class B in defense.

You know the drill: high scoring team vs. lockdown defense.

The Model's picks for the rest of today's games are after the jump.
