Let's Start the Football Playoffs
Here we go!
Did you know the football playoffs start today? It's true!
Houlton and MDI will kick things off with their 8-man large semifinal (4 make it) and we have a couple of regular season class A games before things really get going on Friday. So I've decided right now, at 9:21 pm, to up the newsletters to every day there's a football playoff game.
But before we do that, there's the Week 8 games to overreact to and this week's guest is none other than Michael Hoffer of Hoffer's High School Sports.
As always, we go around the state, including our thoughts on the big TA/Bonny Eagle game, the upstart Westbrook Blue Blazes, the always entertaining Class C, soccer, field hockey, and even a little volleyball. It's always fun when Hoffer comes on the show.

You can check it out on YouTube, Spotify, Apple, or wherever you podcast.
Football Gold Ball Odds are up and fingers crossed there's no glitches.
You'll notice the teams aren't necessarily listed by seed, but by their odds of winning the region. I'll probably tweak that later to rank by seed. It's a long story and not a particularly interesting one.
Obviously these are a paid feature, because they're a whole thing.

Cooper seems to have recovered from his shoulder injury against OKC.

Cooper finished with 15/10/4 for the second double-double of his career. According to StatMuse, Tracy McGrady had 3 double-doubles in his age 18 season, with the second one coming in game 74 of his rookie year, or 19 days before his 19th birthday. Cooper doesn't turn 19 until December 21st, so I'm pretty sure we've got a NBA record.
Update:
Flagg is the second player to have 2 double-doubles by the age of 18 years, 312 days.

Bill Willoughby got his second at the age of 18-285 for Atlanta in 1976.
Dick Lipe is the best.

That patch would also be a good t-shirt.
