Hermon in Triple Overtime
Double buzzer-beaters!
The Game of the Day doesn't always deliver, but when it does, it DELIVERS.
Let's go to MDI.
James Witham was cooking for the Trojans in a duel with Carter Wiggin that wasn't done after regulation. And then it got interesting. Down 3 with seconds to play, Witham beat the buzzer to send the game to the second overtime.
He finished with a game-high 47(!). In the second overtime, MDI was faced with the identical situation, only this time, the Trojans found a different here as Dylan Stoll beat the buzzer to send the game to triple overtime.
In the 3rd OT--small problem--Witham and Stoll had fouled out and MDI ran out of magic. Hermon survived in 3 overtimes behind 35 points from Carter Wiggin, including 13 of 15 from the line and the Hawks won the early contender for Game of the Year.
Chris Popper was there.

Let's update the results of the Wins Draft.

This is off to a good start!
The Globe has a nice feature on new Celtics Governor Bill Chisholm.
Like a lot of people, my worry with the sale of the Celtics was that it'd go to some rich people who don't really care about the team and just see it as an asset. This does not seem to be the case. Chisholm seems kind of crazy in a way that's similar to Mazzulla. That's a compliment. Apparently he hikes the Appalachian Trail every year and no one there has any idea he's a billionaire? That's crazy.
It's a great read.
On his Instagram, Nolan Ames announced he's committed to Colby.

We got the MVC for a battle between two of the top programs in the conference. Maranacook is 5-0 on the season. Led by Jack Fontaine and freshman Gage Mattson, they've raced out to an early lead in C South. They're 14th in the state in scoring differential against the 31st hardest schedule and have gotten better against the harder games on the schedule--always a good sign.
They'll head to Jay to take on a Spruce team that's off to a slow start. They're 2-2 with the 2 losses coming by a combined 5 points for a roster that's starting a bunch of players who went on a deep football run and is missing Cai Dougher, who should return after this game. If you're Maranacook, you're hoping to pick up a W over Spruce before they get whole. If you're Spruce, this is an opportunity to start the climb up the C South standings.

The Model's picks for the rest of today's games are after the jump.
