Fall Sports Are Here
Are you ready for some football? And soccer? And field hockey?

Welcome back from summer break.
Much like the first day of school, we're not going to get a lot done today, but we'll get our bearings and get back in the habit of newslettering and podcasting and the like.
First up: the podcast.
Ryan Snell, Medomak Valley's football coach, joined me on the podcast to talk about how they've taken a program from not even existing to three straight Regional Finals. They'll be aiming for number 4 this year in what seems to be an absolutely loaded Class C.
Snell is a great guy and has plenty of opinions on 8-man vs 11-man, building a culture, and a whole lot more.

Earlier, I joined Andrew Hart from the indispensable MaineHighSchoolFootball.com to ring in the Fall Sports season at Morse's Midnight Madness. This was a pretty fun event and thankfully it stopped raining in time. It also got me wondering why we don't do a Midnight Madness in basketball before someone pointed out that for basketball season, it'd take place on a school night. So it might be a tough sell.
As usual, the podcasts are available on Apple, Spotify, and wherever else you podcast. And if you like them, leave a review!
New MPA Site. Who Dis?
There's a new MPA website this year and it's...a work-in-progress. This is what the Heal Points page currently looks like.

It's hard to pass judgement on this, as it's clearly not done and I can't imagine that'll be the final form. I guess we'll see.
But...I'll have my usual Heal Points for Fall Sports that are much more functional.

Time to turn your subscription back on.
By subscribing to the paid version of the site, you get those good Heal Points, rankings, and predictions for games all year long. Plus, you ensure this site can continue to exist!
It isn't up and running yet because it's a real hassle to pull the schedules and they don't seem to all be in the MPA's site yet (load your schedules!). Apologies to the harvest teams who have already started playing countable games.
Jahleel Heads South
If you read the newsletter last season, like, at all, you already know the name Jahleel Joseph, one of last season's breakout stars and constant fixture in this newsletter.
Well, now you can add him to the list of Mainers who have taken their talents to a prep school out of state.
The BDN has the story.

It's one thing for a kid from a Class A school is southern Maine to get this sort of opportunity, but a kid from a tiny school in Aroostook County? That's incredibly rare.
Programming notes
During basketball season, this newsletter runs 6 days a week, but that's kind of insane and unsustainable, you know? For Fall Sports, it'll likely be twice a week for the newsletter and once or twice a week for the podcast.
If you enjoy this, tell a friend! The newsletter is free, so you can just sign them up. They'll love it. Or maybe they won't.
