But beyond that, the camp functions as a fundraiser. > Proceeds from their camp go to the Donovan Kurt Memorial Cancer Foundation. Kurt was a former high school teammate of the third Flagg brother, Hunter. Kurt died of brain cancer in November 2022, and Cooper wore the number 2 at Duke in honor of Kurt, who wore it at Nokomis. You. The student who used Claude to reorganize a paragraph. The journalist who asked the AI to summarize a two-hundred-page transcript. The writer who had creative block and asked for synonyms,” visionode wrote. “Those guys come out of the process with a digital tattoo on their forehead.” The writer in me finds this hilarious. Not only is this entirely avoidable (you could just write the thing yourself, you know, like in olden days), but the histrionic "OMG a Scarlet Letter!!!" response is, well, entirely predictable. My feelings on this are kind of simple: AI tools aren't entirely wrong, but you shouldn't use it on something you wouldn't be willing to stand behind as being created with the help of a robot. Like, don't pretend you wrote that essay when ChatGPT did most of the work and you took all of the credit. The book I'm [currently reading](https://amzn.to/4gAeLXN?ref=mainebasketballrankings.com) is a novel about an author who builds his entire career on the shoulders of other people's work. He would absolutely use ChatGPT to write a novel (maybe he does...I've got about 80 pages left), but the point is he's absolutely the villain of the book because people like this have always existed, people who want to add their 2 cents and call it a dollar. You may have also noticed that there's a bunch of new website features over these last couple months and, yes, I used Claude to make them. And I have no problem with people knowing that (watermark away!) because I don't know how to code and I'm not about to learn, so I'm fine using the robot. But I will add that for as smart as the robot can be, it is also very, very dumb and will make the same mistake over and over and over again, if you aren't watching it like a hawk. It's a wild, wild time and this is only going to get weirder. Just don't use AI to do your homework. You'll absolutely get caught. > “Because the watermark is part of the text, it will travel with the text when it’s copied and pasted elsewhere, and may persist through some editing.
